19th March 2015 – WEMBLEY

The many great volunteers of Brent were honoured at the 2015 Brent Volunteer Awards Ceremony on 19th March in the Banqueting Hall of Patidar House in Wembley. Almost 80 volunteers received awards from the Mayor of Brent, Cllr Kana Naheerathan who very kindly gave up his free time to help recognise and celebrate the work carried out by individuals who gift their free time to help local people and organisations in Brent. Also in attendance to support the volunteers were the Leader of the Council, Cllr Mohammed Butt, and Dawn Butler MP.

The winning volunteers had been nominated by individuals as well as charity and community organisations from across the Borough. Brent Active Citizens Chief Executive Dominic Pinkney, ‘It’s been an absolutely fantastic night, the energy and support for all the honoured volunteers has been outstanding. It is with great privilege and pride to announce the winning volunteers and explain the great work they do for the local community. We do not receive funding to organise or host the awards but we do it because we feel it is essential to publicly acknowledge and thank volunteers for everything they do.’ Brent Active Citizens, the leading volunteering organisation in Brent, organises the Brent Volunteer Awards each year and ensures an evening of formal recognition for volunteers as well as entertainment and fun. This year’s awards saw the Madhatters Theatre Club put on a performance to entertain the audience as well as fine food, drinks and, of course, company.
